For most enthusiasts the legendary A9X remains the ultimate Torana and arguably GM-H’s best muscle car. It’s a classic in every sense. Did you know in 2018, one serious enthusiast paid $275k for this piece of motoring nostalgia? There’s certainly big money for classic rides.
Spent 30 years in storage
This pristine Holden Torana sat in a North Sydney storage unit for almost 30 years, before setting a then record when it was sold at auction for $275,000. The ultra-rare Holden carries legendary status amongst enthusiasts and is especially popular amongst collectors because of its rich Australian motoring and racing history.
It has good provenance and traceable history, with the original delivery books in good condition. Nostalgia adds a lot of value to classic cars which hold an emotional connection and reminds collectors of a time when perhaps their dad drove one.
With just 94,184 kilometres on the clock, the car had been hidden away while the previous owner worked interstate. Finished in “Jasmine Yellow” and featuring a slate black vinyl upholstery, the A9X boasted a L31 5-litre V8 engine with electric cooling fan matched to a 4-speed manual gearbox.
There are many hidden treasures being found across Australia. Better check your old man’s garage or storage unit if they have one.
